 Diabetes

In Ayurveda, diabetes is known as "Madhumeha" or "Vata Prameha," indicating an imbalance in the Vata Dosha, one of the three primary functional energies in the body. Another form of diabetes called "Kapha Prameha" refers specifically to diabetes insipidus.

According to Ayurvedic principles, the development of diabetes is associated with an imbalance in the Vata Dosha. Vata Prameha presents symptoms such as increased thirst, dry mouth, frequent urination, weight loss, and fatigue.

Similarly, Kapha Prameha, which is related to diabetes insipidus, involves an imbalance in the Kapha Dosha, characterized by excessive urine production and increased thirst.

In Ayurvedic practice, the management of diabetes focuses on restoring balance to the doshas through various approaches, including dietary adjustments, herbal remedies, lifestyle modifications, and specific therapies. It is important for individuals with diabetes to consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and constitution.
